Adept Driver Training Update

Back in November I did the Adept Driver Training course for my insurance company (AAA). Primarily, I only did it to save $500 a year for my car insurance. It was a 3-4 week program teaching ins and outs of driving awareness not taught in driving school. After I finished the course, I was just happy I was saving money every year. Little did I know, I actually became a better driver. I subconsciously became more aware of my surroundings and knew what to look for and be cautious about. I highly recommend the Adept Driver Training course to any new drivers out there. Not only do I save a whole bunch of money with my car insurance, but I also became a better driver.

Traumatized

It was lunch time, and I needed to go pee. So I proceeded to the restroom and specifically chose the urinal all the way at the end. Anyways, I was peeing for a good 10 minutes or so and this guy casually chooses to pee at the urinal right next to the one I was peeing at. I noticed there were 3 or 4 free urinals that weren’t next to mine. In my head I was like, “This dude totally just broke guy code… No big deal I’m almost done.” So I’m getting ready to finish my fantastic urination and the dude goes,”Hey man, nice dick.”

It was freezing cold today! It should be against the law for the weather to be this cold! It might as well be snowing.

Growing Up

I’m in denial of the fact that I’m growing up. The thought of growing up is scary, and it’s difficult facing the fact - whether it’s for the better or worse. Although I may not act like it at times, I feel like I’m slowly growing to be more mature - my personality, my character, my opinions, my outlook on life, everything. I’m sure growing up has its perks, but there will be nothing else in the world comparable to a childhood. I miss being excited for Halloween. I miss the time when the biggest challenge was getting through the monkey bars. I miss the time when my only worry was feeding my Neopets. Those years are precious, and it’s a bummer that we only realize this afterwards. I find myself constantly reminiscing about those times when I was so little and care-free. I still remember particular scenes as a kid, significant or not, like they were just yesterday. It always brings a smile to my face, thinking about the childish things I did as a little kid. As the years go by, the thought of being a kid again grows to be more desirable yet further and further out of reach. Enjoy your youth while you can. It’s always a shame to see children trying to grow up faster. If only they knew.

2012 Toyota Prius

Today I was surprised when my parents come home in a brand new White 2012 Toyota Prius. Just out of the blue! (Or white...)
Review at a glance: It is definitely attractive, despite it's odd egg-shaped stature - it is definitely more attractive than hatchbacks. The fact that it's hybrid is a just great as you all know gas is getting expensive nowadays. When you first start the car, it will only run on battery, that is until you actually get on the road and start to accelerate and drive. Another major plus is that it runs super quiet, like a mouse.

Overall the 2012 Toyota Prius is highly recommended, not only by all the other consumer and insurance ratings, but by me as well.

Car Insurance

I recently got my license and I have been doing the teenSMART Adept Driver course on the computer. This is a 3-4 week course that you do with your parents. You learn more in-depth about the cautions you should be taking while driving. This surely has helped me a lot driving in real life. At the end of the course, if you are able to pass the test they give at the end - you will save about $500 a year on car insurance, depending on your insurance.

Be Careful

Today I went to the post office to ship out some things. There was this angry lady complaining to the manager about her son not receiving a package out in Iraq. It went on for awhile until it finally blew up into a big argument. The man suddenly got real emotional and explained there was nothing he could do. He kept telling the lady to call the navy base instead, but the lady kept at him. She talked to him like it was his fault, which was totally wrong. He got furious.
Turns out the man had his own son in Iraq, and even served in the Vietnam War himself. He knew where the lady was coming from but the lady talked in a wrong attitude, out of frustration. The man left and took a break.
As I exited the office, the man was just sitting on a bench with his head down.
I felt really bad. It just goes to show that you never really know what someone else is going through or went through in the past. So, be careful.

Eighth Grade

Eighth grade was one of the best years of my life. Everything in my life was just so right and perfect at the time. I had no stress whatsoever. I still lived in Fremont, where I was close to everything - but most importantly, my friends. My best friends growing up, even until now, used to be 5 minutes away from me. Hanging out was just a call away. I remember how my bike was my favorite means of transportation. Me and my friends would bike everywhere. I was at the point where freedom was being given to me at an exchange for little responsibility. I used to bike everyday to school with my best friends. I still remember playing checkers or basketball every morning. I still remember being president and doing the daily announcements. I remember doing so well in school while barely trying. I remember biking out to Sweet Tomatoes every minimum day with my best friends, claiming we were just 12 years old so we only had to pay five dollars. I remember guarding my drink every time I got up to get more food, because everyone else poured salt into your drinks. I was so care-free and stress-free. The best friends I made in junior high are still my best friends to this day, even though I moved different cities and schools. My life is leading me to a different path that I would have never expected. A lot of things have changed since eighth grade, maybe for the better - maybe not. All I have now are the priceless memories and the best friends I could ask for. That’s good enough for me.

EVERLANE

“It’s a fact: Your $120 designer shirt sells for eight times what it cost to make. Not at Everlane.

We’ve set out to challenge conventions and offer our designer-quality goods at great—and honest—prices. No tricks. No middlemen taking their cut. No crazy brand markups. Just a new collection of essentials launched each month. And everything under $100. No exceptions.”

It’s like PLNDR or Jackthreads, but with a more classier look than streetwear. Me gusta.

Denim Recommendations

If you’re just starting, definitely check out Unbranded Denim!  Heavy weight, fast-fading denim and if you search hard enough you can find them for about $50 on sale.  1 Year old faded Unbrandeds look amazing.
I also recommend APCs because they just have nice fading properties.  APCs retail for about $175 now.  If you’re patient and look around you might be able to snag a pair for $150.
Imperials don’t have as good fading properties in my opinion, but their denim quality is great - I feel like mine could last me a couple years.  Not to mention that sexy back-pocket stitching.

All in all it depends on your preferences and price range.  Hope this helps.

Being a Kid

I miss being a kid.  I remember being young and always complaining why I couldn’t do this or that.  I remember being jealous of my sister because she had so much more freedom than I did.  I remember wishing to be older.  It’s funny because now that I’m older, I’m wishing I was still a little kid.  Being a little kid meant little to no responsibilities.  You didn’t have to worry about tomorrow.  As a little kid, the only things that mattered to me was the present and whatever was in front of me.  All I knew was to have a good time.  I remember being happy more than anything.  Naivety was never so great.

Workout Progress

Before:
5'7 and 120
Bench max was 130

After:
Worked out for 4 months, took 4 months off and lost a lot of body mass, and then just recently started working out again
Closing in on a a year-ish since the "before pic"
I'm 5'7 1/2 and 137
Bench max is currently 170

*I'm flexing in both pictures.

I drank Muscle Milk with a protein bar right after workouts, occasionally with Creatine.
After I finished my 300g of creatine in the first couple months, I didn't buy anymore.

In the months that I worked out, I worked out about 4 days a week.

Beauty

I know it’s cliche, but I truly believe every single person out there is beautiful.  No matter who you are, where you’re from, what you wear, nothing will ever prove you otherwise.  Beauty goes further than the surface of your skin.  It goes further than the labels people give you.  No one can justify whether or not you have beauty, not even yourself.  You might think you’re the ugly duckling.  You might think that you’re unwanted.  However, there’s someone out there that believes you’re beautiful, whether or not you choose to believe it.  It may be a friend, a peer, even a stranger whom you’ve never met.  Nonetheless, everyone is beautiful in their own little way and no matter how unpopular you are, there’s always someone out there that’ll recognize it.

NEW PROJECT

I'm starting a new project: APC Petit Standard
I went TTS - 28
Here are DAY 1 FIT PICS.

I'll be updating fading progress periodically, stay tuned!

Uninterested

If someone is uninterested, it’ll show. You’ll start to realize that you’re the only one really trying and making an effort. You’ll notice that you’re always the one starting conversations or you’re always the one trying to keep the conversation going. You’ll start to wonder if they even think about you as much as you think about them. There’s no need to rationalize why they did this, or why they didn’t do that because in the end you’ll realize it was all for your peace of mind. There’s no need to try anymore because it’ll go no where, and your efforts are wasted. Save your thoughts, save your sanity, save your time of day, save your energy. If you really want to know if someone’s interested, back off and see if they try harder on their part.

Character

We grow up and live our lives based on others.  No matter what anyone says, deep down, we care what others think of us.  It’s simply human nature to observe and react on our environments and the people around us.  Our personalities are constantly evolving based on countless of factors, our environment being a major one.  Deep down, however, I believe we have our own character.  It’s something that’s invariably based on you.  Your true character shows when we think no one is watching.  We do certain things on our own without thinking, almost like instinct.  Some people do good deeds because they know they’ll get some sort of reward or satisfaction from it.  Some will do good when they know they’re being watched.  Someone with good character will do good things regardless.  They’re not doing it because they want to be a good person, they don’t even think about that.  They do it because they’re actually good.  They have good character, no matter who’s watching.

About Me

  • I’m really nice, so don’t hesitate to say hi or something.
  • I prefer the nice, chill weather over anything.
  • I’m lucky, probably spoiled, but I’m not a brat and I’m definitely thankful.
  • I almost never shop at the mall, online is where it’s at.
  • I’m pretty straight-edge, I don’t smoke, drink, none of that, though I don’t have a problem with others that do.
  • I wear Uggs, but only in my house.  No matter how feminine it looks/sounds, it’s still comfortable.
  • I don’t cuss.  I don’t feel the need to use cuss words to get my point across.
  • I don’t know if I’m an introvert or an extrovert because honestly I can be both.
  • I stay and sleep on the right side of my bed, because that’s the side I charge my phone.
  • Girls are after school and basketball, but I’ll still give you the time you deserve.
  • I love making people laugh, even if it means a really lame joke.
  • You can count on me.  I’ll do my part of the group project if you do yours.
  • I’m pretty self-conscious with what I eat.  If it’s unfamiliar, I’ll look at the nutritional facts.
  • I don’t hold grudges and I’ll own up to my mistakes.  Forgive and move on.
  • I don’t know what I want for my future yet, so I’m just going with the flow.

This past week has been so... Slow.  I feel like a girl on her periods, everything's just been annoying me.  I've been feeling out of it and it's just getting harder and harder.  I'm always starting a new week eager for that next Friday.

New Start

I'm not new to blogging, as I already have a tumblr, but decided to try this new site instead.
Seems like a more mature atmosphere and I could treat this as my virtual journal.
Enjoy!
